Therapeutic Response Ambulance Service is a CQC registered, family run business by a Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Nurse.
We are the first company in the UK to offer trauma informed mental health transport services.
We are the only company in the UK to collect and publish our restrictive practice rates to offer trust and assurances about our least restrictive and compassionate approach.
We are therapeutic. We see ourselves as so much more than taking patients from A to B. We are a specialist mental health service on wheels!
We are on a mission to improve the culture of mental health transport across the country!
We have been awarded a contract to exclusively provide all NHS mental health transport to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We are also an approved provider of mental health transport for Livewell South West and Devon Partnership Trust.
The service is designed for people aged 13 and over who are experiencing mental health difficulties, or those with additional co-morbid conditions, such as a learning disability, neuro-diverse diagnosis or cognitive impairment that would indicate the need for a more secure and supportive ambulance transfer.
We are a trauma-informed company, which means we consider the adversity people have experienced in their lives when we are planning how they need to be supported. It means that we also take a compassionate understanding towards behaviour that might challenge.
We serve the local NHS Trusts, local authorities and accept private bookings also.
What we offer
There are a variety of reasons why patients with mental health difficulties may need specialist transportation or a therapeutic escort. This is usually related to their needs, their Mental Health Act status or to keep people safe.
Ambulance Service
Therapeutic Response Ambulance Service offers transport and therapeutic escort services for those detained under the Mental Health Act. We also serve informal patients from and in between various settings. This includes transport from home to and from hospitals, between mental health wards, and to alternative medical centres for treatment not provided in their current setting and from police custody. This can include repatriation of patients from outside of their home county.
Therapeutic Response Ambulance Service also offer escorted transport for patients who require an enhanced level of support or observation when visiting and attending medical or legal appointments.

We are able to offer supportive supervision to those in hospital settings with a higher level of need that could benefit from therapeutic observation.
Consultancy
Specialist mental health and trauma informed training or consultancy.
We are also able to offer specialist training, individual and group reflective practice, clinical supervision and consultancy on a range of topics. These include mental health, staff wellbeing, trauma informed practice and more.
