We are a partnership both in business and personally, with over 20 years’ experience working in mental health between us. We have worked in inpatient and secondary care community settings, in both CAMHS and adult services with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties.

When working in the NHS, we noticed that the appropriate transport for our patients wasn’t always available, and this often exacerbated their distress. We therefore wanted to do something to improve this, so with a shared vision for offering a safe and caring service to those experiencing a vulnerable time in their lives, Safe Care Transport was born! We are now known as Therapeutic Response Ambulance Service, which is our Trading Name.

The pleasure of designing and running our own business has been having the freedom to work to our own value base. Our priority is ensuring we build trusting relationships as the foundation for everything we do, so we can develop a culture in which everybody feels treated with dignity and respect. This includes looking after our staff properly, so they in turn can look after our patients.

Our Wonderful Team

Our team makes us who we are. We are fortunate enough to employ a compassionate, creative and kind group of individuals from all walks of life, whose shared passion is also to offer warm, sensitive and thoughtful ‘safe care.’ Our team is made up of registered nurses and therapeutic transporters (support workers).
An element of our work can sometimes involve transporting people who are too unwell to consent to their transfer. In these circumstances we are passionate about still offering opportunity for as much choice and agency as possible on their journey.

We are proud to be affiliated with the Restraint Reduction Network and our overall aim is to only ever use physical intervention if absolutely necessary and the last resort.
